The Arlington Gem & Mineral Club ("AGMC", "the club", "we") is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit governed by its constitution and bylaws. Where these terms and the bylaws differ, the bylaws control.
Household basis: a membership belongs to a household. One payment covers everyone in it for the plan chosen: Adult covers one adult login; Family covers two adults and their juniors (ages 5 to 16); Junior covers one young member on their own; Life membership is granted by the board.
Term: a membership runs one year from the day it starts. Renewing before it ends, or by the last day of the month after it ends, continues from the original date so your anniversary does not move. Renewing later starts a new year on the day you pay.
Dues: rates are set by the board and shown at checkout. Dues are not refundable once a term has begun, except where the board decides otherwise or the law requires it.
Good standing: classes, the lab, the directory, Arlie Bucks and members-only pages require a household whose dues are current. The board may suspend a membership under the bylaws; a suspended household cannot renew online until reinstated.
Accurate information: you agree to keep your contact details, emergency contact and household members accurate. Date of birth is required so age-based plans and junior rules can be applied correctly.
Each adult has their own login. Keep your sign-in details private and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. A spouse joins your Family membership through the invitation you send from your membership page; only two adult logins may be attached to a Family plan.
Enrollment is open to members in good standing and their covered juniors. A class has a building fee, payable in cash or Arlie Bucks, and may have a materials fee, payable to the instructor as the class page describes.
Seats are limited. The club may cancel or reschedule a class; if it does, fees paid to the club for that class are refunded or credited.
If you cancel, the class page and the club's cancellation policy set what is refunded and by when. Waitlist offers must be accepted within the time shown or they pass to the next person.
Instructors and the shop safety rules govern the lab. Anyone may be asked to leave for unsafe conduct, and the waiver you accepted applies to every visit.
Arlie Bucks are class credit earned by volunteering and teaching, at the rates the board sets (one Buck covers one hour of class time).
They have no cash value, cannot be sold or transferred, and are not refunded if you leave the club.
Each credit expires 24 months after it is issued. Your Bucks page shows what you hold and when it expires.
The club may correct credits issued in error.
Payments are processed by Stripe on its secure pages; the club does not hold your card details. You receive an emailed receipt for each payment. Donations are gifts to a 501(c)(3) organization, are not refundable, and are acknowledged with a receipt you may use for tax purposes.
The directory and other members-only pages are for club purposes only. Do not copy, share or use members' contact details for commercial, political or unsolicited purposes. Content on this site (text, photographs, class materials and the newsletter) belongs to the club or its contributors; ask before reusing it.
The Code of Conduct applies to the site, the lab, classes, meetings, field trips and the annual show. The board may suspend or end a membership under the bylaws for conduct that harms members or the club.
The site and the club's activities are provided as they are, by volunteers. To the extent the law allows, the club, its officers, instructors and members are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the site or participation in club activities. Nothing here limits the waiver you accepted when joining or rights you have under Texas law that cannot be waived.
The board may update these terms; the new version is published here with its effective date and material changes are announced to members. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Questions: agmcmembership@gmail.com or P.O. Box 986, Arlington, TX 76004-0986.
